Towards trustworthy AI-driven tools for personalised treatment of heart failure: workshop on the present and future of heart failure treatment

Lisbon, Portugal – On May 13, 2024, the AI4HF consortium organised an international multi-stakeholder workshop titled “Towards trustworthy AI-driven tools for personalised treatment of heartfailure: workshop on the present and future of heart failure treatment”.

The workshop brought together 28 participants from various sectors including healthcare professionals, social scientists, patients, and technologists, alongside representatives from the AI4HF consortium. The event was both multidisciplinary and international, featuring participants from 10 different countries.

During the morning session, the consortium gathered feedback on the progress achieved within the project's first year, focusing on the tools designed for patients and healthcare professionals, as well as the AI Passport. The afternoon session was dedicated to exploring the future of personalized care for heart failure, discussing how prediction tools can support patients in managing their health and how AI-driven tools can promote health equity.

Overall, the discussions highlighted the need for patient-centred, easy-to-use, and well-integrated tools that provide clear, actionable insights and minimize the burden on both patients and healthcare professionals.

The insights from this workshop will be translated into requirements for the design of AI-driven tools and their successful implementation in clinical pathways.

The workshop was hosted by SHINE 2Europe, University of Barcelona, the European Society of Cardiology, and Amsterdam UMC.
